From the outside, Lexus of Highland Park certainly doesn’t appear to be a residence of any kind. But to me and others who work here, it’s a true home-away-from-home.
So when people stop in, we think of them as company. We go out of our way to make them feel comfortable as though they’re guests in our home, not prospects to be sold.
This tone was set decades ago by my grandfather Ray, our founder.
In 1965, Ray began his career in car leasing, but it wasn’t long before General Motors spotted his talent and offered him an Oldsmobile franchise. Thanks to his extraordinary emphasis on customer service, the dealership flourished over the following years. Ray was enthralled with everything about automobiles, and he derived great satisfaction putting people together with amazing cars. His enthusiasm was infectious. In 1980, Ray brought his son (and my father) Alan into the company. Alan had inherited Ray’s passion for exceeding people’s expectations in terms of service. He brought his own energy and style of performance to the dealership, and it grew accordingly. We’ve been a proud Lexus dealership now since 1989. While Ray passed away in 2016, Dad has remained a very active owner who comes in every day and makes sure everything’s running smoothly.

A remarkably high percentage of our employees have been with us for over 20 years, 25 years and even longer–some dating back to the 1970’s! I believe this speaks volumes about the kind of atmosphere you’ll experience when you walk through the door. The people you’ll meet want to be here and serve you as though you’re another member of the family. This longevity also reflects the company’s strong commitment to our people and their careers. We know that, despite offering the finest vehicles on earth, ours is ultimately a very personal business–and we’re exceedingly fortunate to have such ultimate people! As for me, the dealership, the Lexus brand and cars in general have become part of my DNA, too. I am very passionate about building fast cars, and to this day I enjoy nothing more than to hit the open road. For the past five years, I’ve felt truly privileged to serve here as general manager.
